This week work continues on the site investigation and construction fencing/site containment phase of the project. Installation of additional signage, fencing and other pedestrian/traffic control features will be installed and work will begin on removal and salvage of brick pavers from both the existing east plaza and the roadway bricks for future use on this project and throughout the City. Mobilization of steel and other materials for the new pedestrian ramp is expected in the next 7 to 10 days and demolition of the existing hardscapes (sidewalks, street and planters) is anticipate

The second phase of the 1st Street Plaza Expansion project kicks off today (May 1, 2023) with the project contractor Martam Construction of Elgin, Illinois beginning to mobilized equipment and material to the site. Construction fencing and pedestrian/traffic control will commence this week, followed shortly after by utility investigation and demolition of the existing street and sidewalks.
The St. Charles Community Clean-Up Day (formerly known as the Spring Clean Up Program) offers residents the opportunity to place unwanted items at the curb for pick up. The program is for residents within City of St. Charles limits only and is offered every two years, pending City Council approval. In a year when no Community Clean Up is offered, consider participating in the St. Charles Park District’s Community Garage Sale, which usually is held in April.
