Corridor Improvement Program: Streetscape and Site Accessories
The third chapter of the Design Guidelines looks at the various elements that occur on a property. These elements, including signage, lighting, fences and walls, as well as site furnishings, are the items that directly engage the viewer and user. These are elements that the viewer is familiar with and expects to see on a property. The degree to which
they are well done establishes the level of visual comfort. The higher the degree, the more attractive a property becomes in an overall way. Also, when two or three adjacent, or nearby, properties attain a higher level, they benefit each other. Ultimately, when numerous properties along a portion of the corridor pursue upgrades, then the entire community begins to benefit as attitudes and perceptions change.
