Police Department Recruitment 2007 Final Eligibility Register In October of 2006 the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners for the City of St. Charles, in conjunction with the St. Charles Police Department, initiated a comprehensive recruitment plan. The intention of the plan was to have a new eligibility register in place when the current one expired in March of 2007. During the course of the recruitment process, in an attempt to fill vacancies within the Police Department, all names on the current register were eliminated. As a result, it became necessary for the Commissioners to accelerate their timetable in order to insure that an active register was in place as soon as possible. The written and physical agility portions of the test were held in December of 2006, with the oral interviews following in January. On February 16, 2007, a Final Eligibility Register for the position of Police Officer was posted. With four vacancies to fill, Police Department staff began contacting the top candidates to coordinate further testing. As additional openings become available within the Police Department, candidates will be contacted in the order in which they appear on the register. It is anticipated that this register will remain in effect until February 16 of 2009. However, if there are vacancies within the Police Department and all names on the register are eliminated prior to February of 2009, a comprehensive recruitment plan will be initiated.
