Community Restitution

2006 Restitution Program

In 2006, the restitution program assigned 164 defendants and logged in a total of 10,586 hours for a monetary savings to the City of $105,860.

The Community Restitution Coordinator position is a civilian position overseeing the activities of offenders who have been convicted of crimes such as Driving Under the Influence (DUI) and other traffic related offenses, and who have been assigned to community restitution through the judicial system as a part of their sentencing agreement.

Since its inception in April of 2004, restitution jobs have included providing personnel to work for the Sewage Treatment Plant, washing City owned vehicles, painting City owned buildings, helping with the Police Department's renovation, moving office supplies, snow removal in the City campus, weeding and trash control in the City campus, trash pick-up along major highways in St. Charles, helping out with the National Night Out Against Crime and Scarecrow Festival, painting the interior of the Provena Pine View Care Center, and assisting with numerous other projects throughout the City.
