Electric Safety - Downed Power Lines

Wires touching the ground may still be energized.
Anytime you see a line on the ground, call 911.
Do not touch the wire(s) or come in contact with anything they are touching (such as a fence, a tree or a vehicle).
Keep yourself and others away from the downed line(s).
If you are in a car that a power line has fallen on, stay in the vehicle and do not touch any metal parts inside the car. Tell anyone coming near not to touch the car. If you must leave the car because of fire or other danger, jump away from it so you are not in contact with the car when your body touches the earth. When walking away from the car, shuffle your feet rather than taking steps because the ground might be energized and you don’t want the stray current to flow through your feet and across your heart.
