Please note that the information contained here refers to electric distribution system, including the transformers, pedestals, and associated cabling used to connect a home or building to the City’s main electric distribution lines. All wiring and other electrical equipment on the customer’s private premises or connecting with the City’s electric service is installed and maintained by the customer in accordance with the applicable requirements of the National Electric Code (NEC) and the St. Charles Building Codes. The City of St. Charles Building Code adopts the National Fire Protection Association, Inc., NFPA 70, National Electric Code Edition 2002, as modified. The City’s Building & Code Enforcement Division has jurisdiction over private electric installations and provides all permitting and inspection.
