ANSWERS
    • Keep kites and balloons (especially metallic ones) away from overhead power lines.

• Climbing a tree is FUN! Follow the ten-foot rule and make sure there is at least a 10-foot separation between the tree you are going to climb and nearby power lines.

• Do not stick fingers, toys, your little sister’s ponytail, pencils, pens, knives, letter-openers, action figures, keys, chocolate, gum, paperclips or really anything into electrical outlets. Let your parents plug in lamps or appliances or toys for you.

• As tempting as it may be, don’t tug on electrical cords hanging low enough to reach—you never know what it on the other end (a heavy lamp, toaster, brick, etc.) and whatever you do, don’t put electric cords in your mouth!

• Stay away from downed power lines. Report it immediately to your parents, police or fire department or call 9 - 11.

• Go inside a building at the first sign of a thunderstorm and lightning, and stay away from trees.
