Residential Refuse Collection
All residents are provided with refuse and recycling services by the City’s licensed waste hauler, Veolia Environmental Services. Single family and multifamily units of six or less are provided weekly, volume based curbside pick-up service for refuse, recycling and seasonal yard waste. In a volume-based, or pay-as-you-go program, refuse service is funded by purchasing special bags or stickers. These items can be purchased at local grocery and convenience stores.

Sticker/Bag/Toter Pricing: For information on pricing, please check the Municipal Code.

Collection Schedule: The collection schedule for curbside pickup can be found on the Residential Refuse Pickup Map.

Guidelines for Residential Refuse Collection:

  • Residents may choose to participate in either the volume-based refuse collection program (purchase bags and stickers as needed) or a flat monthly rate cart service (directly from Veolia – 630-587-8282).

  • Prepaid bags and tags are available for purchase at the following locations within St. Charles: Jewel, Home Hardware, Lundeens, Dominick’s, Blue Goose, Butera, Grimms, and City Hall.

  • Please have all material out for collection by 6 a.m., but not before 7 p.m. the prior evening.

  • The following items are considered one disposal unit, and require either a prepaid disposal sticker or prepaid full size bag:
    • Waste containers or generic plastic bags no larger than 32 gallons in capacity, limited to 50 pounds of waste.
    • Bundles of debris, such as carpeting and wood should be no larger than 4 feet in length or weight over 50 pounds.
    • Large household items, such as any item of furniture or appliances.

  • Large amounts of demolition and construction debris can be collected by a special pickup. Please contact Onyx to arrange for pickup.
