Building
Inspections
Q: What inspections are required?
A: Different projects require different inspections. A list of all inspections
required for your project is attached to your Permit when it is issued.
The same list is attached to the Field Copy of the plans.
Q: When do inspections occur?
A: Inspections are requested by the contractor or owner when the work has
reached the stages where inspections are needed. Generally speaking, an
inspection is conducted when a certain stage of work is completed and the
next stage of work will cover over the previous work. For example, the framing
elements of a building are inspected before drywall is placed over them.
Q: How do I know when to ask for an inspection?
A: Refer to the list of inspections required for your project. (Attached
to the Permit and the Field Copy of the plans.) If you have any questions
about the stage of completion that is required for an inspection, please
call the Building and Zoning Division at 630-377-4406.
Q: How do I schedule an inspection?
A: Call 630-377-4406 between the hours of 8:00am to 7:00pm Mondays, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays, and talk to
our office staff. We can serve our customers better by not accepting voicemail
inspection requests. Please allow a minimum of 24 hours notice prior to
the time that you need inspection. When you call, you must have 1) your permit
number; 2) the street address of the construction site; and 3) what type of inspection
you are calling to schedule. Inspections are scheduled on a first-come-first-served
basis. |
