The City of St. Charles Economic Development Department conducts monthly Business Call Meetings as a component of the City's Business Retention Program. Informal, one-hour meetings are scheduled exclusively for businesses within a randomly selected block area, and a host is chosen based on the most central location and available accommodations. Public officials such as the Mayor and City Administrator, as well as representatives from the Economic Development Department, Police and Fire Departments, St. Charles Downtown Partnership, St. Charles Chamber of Commerce, St. Charles Convention & Visitors Bureau, and other local officials are in attendance. In some cases, additional officials are invited depending on the current business activity for a particular area (i.e. City Engineer, Kane County Dept. of Transportation, etc). The purpose of the meeting is to allow for an informal exchange of ideas between the business community and the City in a round table discussion format. Community updates are provided to attendees, particularly relating to activity in their immediate area. Sometimes the host will offer a tour of their business following the meeting. Nametags are provided for all attendees. Host businesses are requested to provide meeting space for approximately 6-12 people and light refreshments are optional. Generally it takes one year to cycle through all geographic business locations within the City, as groups are kept small to allow for more one-on-one conversations and to encourage open dialogue. No meetings are held in August or December. To host a Business Call Meeting, contact the Economic Development Dept. at (630) 443-4093. You will be contacted when a Business Call Meeting is scheduled for your area.
