Six Establishments Cited for Liquor Violations

Six liquor establishments determined to have violated city liquor laws

At its hearing Monday, the St. Charles Liquor Commission announced six liquor establishments were determined to have violated city liquor laws. Five establishments were issued fines and assessed costs, and one establishment was granted a continuance because it was not available for the hearing. The St. Charles Police Department conducts periodic compliance checks on local license holders to ensure proper liquor code is followed and liquor is not served to underage customers. A Dec. 16, 2011, compliance check of several St. Charles license holders found these six businesses in violation of serving an underage customer:

  • Kane County Rookies, 1545 W. Main Street, was issued a $500 fine and assessed $500 in legal costs
  • J&S World Liquor Inc., 311 N. Second Street, was issued a $500 fine and assessed $500 in legal costs
  •  Lundeen’s Liquor East, Inc., 610 E. Main Street, was issued a $500 fine and assessed $500 in legal costs
  •  St. Charles Bowl, 2520 W. Main Street, was issued a $500 fine and assessed $500 in legal costs
  • Cost Plus World Market, 3555 E. Main Street, was issued a $500 fine and assessed $500 in legal costs
  • Beehive Tavern and Grill, 204 W. Main Street, requested a continuance to Feb. 20.

“These establishments will be subject to increasing levels of fines, suspensions, and revocation if necessary, should they continue to have difficulty complying with the City’s Liquor Control Codes and Requirements,” said Mayor Donald P. DeWitte.
