October 10, 2014

The Municipal Center Parking Lot Project started the week of July 14, 2014 and was originally scheduled to be completed by the start of Scarecrow Fest (October 10, 2014). Fortunately, Scarecrow Fest is upon us and the majority of the parking lot, associated sidewalks, walking paths and hardscape features have been completed and are available for use during this important event.  Unfortunately, there are a few remaining tasks left to be completed which will extend the original completion date of the project until Monday October 20, 2014.  Remaining items to be finished include hardscape in the plaza areas, installation of the irrigation system, landscaping and wrap up of the site lighting.

Upon the completion of Scarecrow Fest on Monday October13, the parking lot will be closed daily between the hours of 6:00am and 6:00pm.  This will allow the contractor to safely complete their remaining tasks, while allowing the lot to be open in the evening for patrons of Downtown St. Charles to utilize for parking.  On Monday October 20, the parking lot will be open for business and operating as normal.

As expected in any construction project of this scope, there were inconveniences, especially to those who work and visit our Municipal Campus. The Public Works Department, consultants and contractors want to thank everyone for their patience and understanding during the construction of our new parking lot and we anticipate it will provide years of service to St. Charles.

Please take a moment to enjoy the new parking lot during Scarecrow Fest this weekend.
