The City of St. Charles recently invited all St. Charles residents, and/or property owners and business owners who are amateur photographers to participate in a photo contest. The contest aimed to capture the atmosphere, activity and culture of St. Charles through unique photos. Entries were sent to the City in July and throughout the summer until the contest ended November 31, 2008. Photos were judged by a panel including; representatives from the City Council, Community and Public Affairs, and members of the St. Charles staff.
Prizes were awarded in only one category (Adult) since there were no youth category entries.
The first place winner was Brian Murphy. Second place was awarded to Scott Seifrid, and the third place winner was Nick Freeman.
The first prize winner, Brian Murphy, will have his photo displayed in the Municipal Building in downtown St. Charles, along with having the photo posted on the front page of the St. Charles website, and printed within a major city communication publication (scheduled to be released in 2009). Brian Murphy will also receive an award certificate to be presented at the City of St. Charles City Council Meeting on January 20, 2008.
Second place winner Scott Seifrid will have his photo prominently displayed at a City facility and receive an award certificate to be presented at the January 20 City Council Meeting.
Third place winner Nick Freeman will also receive an award certificate to be presented at the January 20 City Council Meeting.
