Department Divisions

Fire Prevention
The Fire Prevention Bureau is responsible for the occupancy approval fire inspection and public education programs of the Department. Plan review for all new construction is completed by Fire Prevention Bureau personnel to insure code compliance Also, Public education programs are offered for all age groups, including school visits, fire extinguisher classes, C.P.R. classes, station tours, as well as many other offerings. The Fire Investigation Team works within the Fire Prevention Bureau and is charged with investigating all fires that occur within the area protected by the St. Charles Fire Department.

Administration
The Administrative Division coordinates all administrative functions of the Fire Department and includes the Command Staff, Emergency Preparedness Coordinator, and administrative support staff.

Operations
The Operations Division includes all activities related to the provision of fire suppression, rescue, hazardous materials and emergency medical services. In addition, an operations battalion chief works with representatives from the Tri-Com 9-1-1 Center to insure successful dispatching procedures; and another battalion chief oversees the EMS functions of the Department.

Training/Safety
The third battalion chief coordinates Training and Safety for the Fire Department providing a structured training program for shift personnel.
