2018-2019 Tri-Cities Jank Awards Presented

Congratulations to Batavia’s Madeline Schuster for being named the 2018-2019 Tri-Cities Jank Ambassador. Madeline was chosen from a field of more than 400 nominees based on academic achievement and ability to apply creativity in a manner that fosters community, diversity and innovation.

This is the third TriCities Jank Ambassador following George Ressinger and Crystal Kotvan. The 2018-19 ambassadorship includes a trip to France to the site of The Jank Guitar Store’s future location in St. Malo, set to open in 2020. The ambassador will travel to St. Malo for an immersive three-day educational tour including an interview with TSUGI Magazine, meeting with St. Malo City Council members, a roundtable discussion with local youth leaders coordinated by the St. Malo school district, and visits to historical sites.

In addition, the Jank Guitar 2018 Road Song Challenge winner is St. Charles North student John Engstrom! He was generously awarded $10,000! It also came with a $2,000 donation both to his school and to the city! The donation to the city was accepted by Alderman Rita Payleitner and will go towards a designated performance space in a second plaza planned for 1st St. Special thanks to Scott Corbin for his continued support of music and culture throughout the Tri-Cities.
