City Council & School District Board to Hold Joint Meeting

Sept. 30

The St. Charles City Council and the St. Charles Community School District 303 School Board are holding a joint meeting Sept. 30, 2019, at 7 p.m. in City Council Chambers, 2 E. Main Street. The meeting will provide an opportunity for the two elected bodies to publicly discuss a variety of issues that impact both constituencies as they further advance their collaborative relationship.

“A natural linkage already exists between the School District and the City,” said St. Charles Mayor Raymond Rogina. “Conducting a public dialogue to report about what we are working on together further advances that relationship. I have always felt that I am a champion for the schools and feel this meeting will complement both organizations’ work and missions.”

St. Charles District 303 School Board President Carolyn Waibel said, “District 303 and the City of St. Charles regularly collaborate on matters that touch both students and community members. The School Board looks forward to participating in this joint meeting that will provide us with an avenue to share information, have meaningful conversations, and build upon our trusted partnership for the betterment of our students.”

The School District and the City regularly work together on a variety of communitywide efforts:

  • Regular Communication: Meet monthly, along with other community organizations, to keep each other apprised of ongoing initiatives
  • Development: Land Cash Agreements and Development Incentives
  • Student Safety: Student Resource Officer, Police and Fire Safety Drills, and Crossing Guard programs.
  • Unique Educational Opportunities: Government for a Day, INCubator, Student Commissioners, and Student Interns.
