At 3:12 a.m. on Thursday December 16, 2021, the St. Charles Fire Department was dispatched to 315 S. Kirk Rd. for a report of fire in the building. Firefighters were on the scene by 3:14 am and found moderate smoke inside the manufacturing area with visible fire in a ceiling mounted machine. The fire was brought under control with six minutes.
The structure was checked for any fire extension and cleared of smoke. The business was returned to the occupants by 4:35 am. The fire loss is estimated at approximately $10,000 to the machinery with no structural involvement; the business is still operational. There were no civilian or firefighter injuries during the incident.
The St. Charles Fire Department was assisted at the scene by the Geneva, Batavia, West Chicago, North Aurora and Elburn fire departments. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
