City of St. Charles is Forming an Equity & Inclusion Commission

Residents are Invited to Apply

The City of St. Charles is forming an Equity & Inclusion Commission and invites residents to apply to serve on the Commission. Interested individuals should send a letter of interest and a background document or resume via email to cao@stcharlesil.gov or mail it to Mayors Office, City of St. Charles, 2 E. Main Street, St. Charles, IL 60174 by April 27, 2023. After an interviewing process, seven members will be appointed to the Commission to serve three-year terms.

One of the Guiding Principles in the St. Charles 2023-2027 Strategic Plan is Engagement and Inclusion, which encourages all voices be heard and opportunities be available for everyone to participate and contribute to the community.

“Recognizing the diverse communities that exist within St. Charles is an important step to making sure all feel welcome here,” said Mayor Lora Vitek. “Building these relationships and providing the opportunity for everyone to feel heard helps strengthen our community.”

The Commission will develop recommendations that align with the Strategic Plan Guiding Principles and Goals to help the City engage, listen, and ensure St. Charles an inclusive community that is welcoming to all residents, businesses, employees, and visitors.

No prior municipal or government experience is required to serve on the commission; however, the City is seeking applicants with diverse perspectives and experiences.
