The City of St. Charles was recently awarded a grant of $13,000 from Morton Arboretum which will be used for the inventory and assessment of the City’s nearly 21,000 parkway trees.
The inventory and assessment process includes evaluating and documenting each individual tree to identify any required maintenance, as outlined in the City’s Urban Forestry Management Plan.
Why does the City perform hydrant flushing?
Hydrant flushing is the quick release of water from fire hydrants. It’s a controlled procedure that is vital to the general maintenance of the City’s water distribution system. It ensures adequate water flow is available to fire fighters, residents and businesses. It also improves water quality by clearing iron and other mineral deposits from the water mains.
