Water main construction on this project has been completed. Over the next two weeks site cleanup and restoration will be completed.
South Tyler Road & Production Drive Water Main Replacement
Project Phase: Construction
Project Improvements: The City of St. Charles is conducting a water main replacement project in your neighborhood. The existing water main is in poor condition and frequent breaks cause service outages for local customers. This project will replace 1,200 linear feet of water main along South Tyler Road between Rte. 64 and Production Drive. In addition, the project will replace an additional 2,305 linear feet along Production Drive between South Tyler Road and Industrial Drive. After the water main is completed a road replacement project will start.
Contractor and Inspector: The contract for this work has been awarded to Pirtano Construction as the General Contractor for the underground work. Matt Wilson, Environmental Services Division Manager, will be the Project Manager for the City of St. Charles. The City has retained Rempe-Sharp to be the on-site resident engineer to complete construction inspections for the work.
Project Dates: Expect to see JULIE locates, with construction equipment and staging within City easements in middle of March. The water main installation will be conducted over four months with expected completion in June 2021. A road replacement project will start upon the completion of this water main project.
Traffic Impacts: The portion of the project along Tyler Road and under Rte. 64 will be directionally drilled. Traffic impacts will be at a minimum with the reduction of a single south bound lane on Tyler Road. The water main construction along Production Drive and Industrial Drive will be a traditional open trench. As a result, lane closures will include some traffic flow impacts and short-term driveway closures. The City will provide traffic updates on this project page.
Water Impacts: The City will be coordinating scheduled water shutoffs and notifying impacted cutomers via a door hanger which will provide them with the expected shutoff date and time. The City will make every effort to schedule all water main shutdowns, however, unexpected water main breaks can occur resulting in an emergency water main shutdown.
