Starting Monday, October 9, the contractor will begin the road restoration portion of the project which is expected to last two to three weeks.

The road restoration will include daily road closures from 7:15 am to 3:00 pm. During the off hours, only westbound traffic will be allowed on Fellows Street between S. 4th and S. 3rd Streets.

In addition, only northbound traffic will be allowed on S. 4th Street from Gray to Fellows Street.

A detour route will include the use of McKinley St, S. 3rd Street and Gray Street.

Update - 10/03/23

A lot has been happening on the project over the last few weeks and things are starting to move quickly.  Concrete base has been installed on a large section of the new plaza and crews are working at installing curbs and more concrete base every day.

The new retaining walls have been stained and are awaiting graffiti coating which is coming soon, and we also painted the existing fire hydrants! Keep a close eye on the plaza in the coming weeks as much of it will start to look like the final stages are getting close.

Update - 9/28/23

Beginning early next week, the City and the contractor will be conducting two water shutoffs to switch to the new water main.

Shortly after that is completed, the contractor will start final concrete and asphalt restorations.

Update - 9/11/23

Progress, progress and more progress has been happening down on 1st Street!  All of the structural footings, foundations and much of the underground work associated with the project has been completed.  The team is moving up from the Riverwalk with the new sidewalk addition matching into the new retaining walls, stairs and working our way up to Main Street.  With just a little bit of imagination you can picture how the site will look soon.

Update - 8/31/23

The contractor has started the underground excavation of the new lift station. Heaiver truck traffic can be expected during this time. Dewatering will continue until the lift station is fully installed.

Update - 8/21/23

Footings and foundations galore!  The project team has been working hard on getting all the work underground that is the foundation of the future plaza features.  This work will continue into September as the team continues to install irrigation sleeves, communication components and more and more footings and foundations.
