Update - 5/15/23

Construction activity on Phase 2 of the 1st Street plaza project continued with the completion of salvaging material from the site for the City to reuse in other parts of the community.  Tree grates, paver bricks, light poles and perennials were all removed from the site and stored for future use or placed for re-use.  Site screening, pedestrian and motor vehicle traffic control was also completed and demolition of the sidewalk, planters and roadway began.

Update - 5/8/23

This week work continues on the site investigation and construction fencing/site containment phase of the project.  Installation of additional signage, fencing and other pedestrian/traffic control features will be installed and work will begin on removal and salvage of brick pavers from both the existing east plaza and the roadway bricks for future use on this project and throughout the City.  Mobilization of steel and other materials for the new pedestrian ramp is expected in the next 7 to 10 days and demolition of the existing hardscapes (sidewalks, street and planters) is anticipate

Update - 05/01/23

The second phase of the 1st Street Plaza Expansion project kicks off today (May 1, 2023) with the project contractor Martam Construction of Elgin, Illinois beginning to mobilized equipment and material to the site.  Construction fencing and pedestrian/traffic control will commence this week, followed shortly after by utility investigation and demolition of the existing street and sidewalks. 

Update - 10/27/22

  • Thursday, October 27 - Broken Curb is being removed. 
  • Friday, October 28 - Curb replacement and Target entrance removal - North Target entrance will be closed October 28 to November 8 
  • Friday/Saturday, October 28 and 29 - Grading in the IL Dept.
