Construction

Construction on South 19^th Street & Walnut Drive Water Main Improvements is scheduled to begin on Monday April 14, with an anticipated completion by the end of May. The work will take place along the west side of South 19^th Street between West Main Street and Walnut Drive, and 200 feet west along the north side of Walnut Drive. The contract for this project has been awarded to Martam Construction, Elgin IL.

As part of an ongoing commitment to maintain City owned facilities, last year, the Public Services Division completed an exterior conditions analysis of the Municipal Building at 2 E. Main Street. The analysis was performed by a local architectural-construction firm, the Prairie Forge Group. This analysis was a study of the building’s exterior shell and resulted in identifying key deficiencies that required repairs to keep the structure weather-tight.

Work to install the new box culvert, resolve utility conflicts under Tyler Road and excavate the drainage channel east of Tyler Road will continue this week. Tyler Road will remain open for traffic, although some lane closures are to be expected.

North 15^th Street and Brook Street have been finished with concrete surface. Certain areas of new concrete surface will need to cure before being opened to traffic this week. Utility improvements are essentially complete. Work on sidewalk repairs and the restoration of the parkway with sod will begin this week.

Work to install the new box culvert, resolve utility conflicts under Tyler Road and excavate the drainage channel east of Tyler Road will continue this week. Tyler Road will remain open for traffic, although some lane closures are to be expected.

Brook Street and half of North 15^th Street have been finished with concrete surface. Utility improvements are essentially complete.  Work on pavement, curbs and sidewalks will continue. New concrete pavement is planned to be poured on portions of 15^th Street this week.

Brook Street has been finished with concrete surface. Work on utility improvements on 15^th Street, including the culvert crossing replacement, and the removal of pavement and curbs will continue this week. New concrete is planned to be poured on 15^th Street this week.
