The Mayor is elected for a four-year term and appoints all officers of the City, with the advice and consent of the City Council. Working closely with the City Administrator, the Mayor oversees the budget and City operations.
The Mayor also serves as the local Liquor Control Commissioner and appoints members to serve on the commission. The Liquor Control Commission considers alcohol, tobacco, and massage license issues.
As the City's official spokesperson, the Mayor represents the City before governmental agencies, private and public organizations, citizen's groups, and the media.
