Dryer Fire

St. Charles Fire Department Press Release
 The St. Charles Fire Department responded to a report of a dryer fire located in the 1300 block of W. Main Street at approximately 8:54 am on Thursday, November 6th, 2025. The first unit arrived on scene three minutes after dispatch and reported visible smoke on the 2nd floor. The fire was extinguished by first arriving fire companies within minutes of arrival. Firefighters then checked for any fire extension and performed salvage and overhaul operations.
 
Damage to the property and contents is estimated at $60,000. There were no civilian or firefighter injuries at this incident.
 
The St. Charles Fire Department was assisted at this incident by the St. Charles Police Department and the Geneva, Batavia, Elburn, South Elgin and West Chicago Fire Departments. The cause of the fire is under investigation. The apartment where the fire originated along with the apartment below are both uninhabitable at this time.
