Holiday Homecoming Parade CANCELED

Electric Parade

Due to the National Weather Service forecast calling for snowfall and gusty winds to continue throughout the afternoon and into the evening, the City of St. Charles and the St. Charles Business Alliance have canceled the Electric Christmas Parade planned for tonight, November 29, 2025, at 5:30 p.m.

While the Electric Christmas Parade is a much anticipated event each year, the City and the Alliance have made the difficult decision to cancel the parade. After careful consideration and discussions with the City's Police, Fire, and Public Works departments, maintaining public safety is the foremost concern. Slippery road conditions and additional snow accumulation pose safety risks.

We thank everyone for their understanding and cooperation as we take the necessary steps to ensure everyone’s safety.

Why can’t the  parade be rescheduled?

Parades take a lot of behind the scenes work. We would not be able to secure the proper permits and permissions to close down a major state road by the end of the year. We also cannot ensure access to the exciting elements and floats we use as well as the availability of staff and 80+ volunteers it takes to organize this event. And there is no way to guarantee the weather on an alternate date.

Santa will still be on the 1st Street Plaza every Saturday and Sunday from 1-4 p.m. until December 21, so make sure to stop by, drop off your wish list, and see the new Santa Cottage. Additionally, holiday photo opportunities will be available on the 1st Street Plaza all season long. You can also still take part in the Holiday Shop Crawl, support local businesses, and celebrate here locally.
