Woods of Fox Glen Lift Station

The City of St. Charles will be conducting several repairs to the Woods of Fox Glen sanitary lift station. This lift station provides service to approximately 90 homes located in the Woods of Fox Glen Subdivision. The lift station is in the center of Glenbriar Ct. and the proposed repairs will include a new manhole and electrical replacement.  Please see project map below.

The contract for this work has been awarded to AEA Energy of Sycamore, IL. Fehr Graham, Inc. and City staff will be the on-site engineer performing construction inspections and acting as the field liaison to residents and property owners.  Any questions or concerns may be directed to City of St Charles Public Works at (630) 377-4405 or PW@stcharlesil.gov.

We are working with the contractor to determine the exact dates, but generally anticipate construction to occur as follows:

  • Phase 1 - Manhole Construction – September – October
  • Phase 2 - Electrical Under Ground Construction – November
  • Phase 3 - Electrical and Control Panel Construction – November – December
  • Phase 4 - Landscaping & Replanting – Spring 2026

This project has been divided into phases to facilitate the completion of the project in a timely manner and with as little disruption to residents and properties as possible. Work will be conducted Monday – Friday from 7am to 4pm.

  • Phase I: Manhole Construction This phase includes trimming and or removal of some trees and bushes. The large pine tree in the center of the court will remain. To allow access and room to work, the pine tree will be trimmed. Some bushes will be removed for construction access. Any bushes or other landscaping removed during construction will be restored in the spring of 2026. Manhole construction will not impact the roadway or the curb. Driveway access will be maintained; however, there may be short access issues of a couple of hours during this phase for crane and concrete deliveries. The site engineer or staff will provide notification to any impacted homes.

During this phase a construction fence will be placed around the site. This fence is temporary and is to ensure site safety since there will be a deep excavation in the center of the court. There will be an excavator onsite overnight and truck traffic during the day. Once the manhole is complete, the temporary construction fence and excavator will be removed for the remainder of the project. Also, during this phase the streetlight located in the court will be without power. Power to the streetlight will be restored during phase II.

  • Phase II: Electrical Underground Ground Construction This phase includes the rerouting of power. During this phase, a small excavator or trencher will be on site. Every night the site will be secured and materials cleaned up. Driveway access will be maintained. During this phase the streetlight will be restored.

  • Phase III: Electrical and Control Panel Construction. This phase includes setting and wiring new electrical panels. The new panels will be placed       under the pine tree; since all of the work is within the panels, there will be no access issues for the homeowners.

    Phase IIII Landscaping and Replanting:
This phase will involve shrub and landscaping restoration.  All areas disturbed by construction will be restored.  Currently, this phase is scheduled for spring 2026, but depending on weather and construction progress, the city will try to complete some of the restoration while the project progresses.

Due to the scope, complexity, and nature of this work, as well as the unpredictability of weather, some delays and disruptions may occur.  There may be times when no work is occurring. We ask for your understanding during these times; work is being coordinated and anticipated to be finished by the completion date of December 19th.  All work is weather dependent.
