Brush Fire 4000 Block of Lincoln Hwy
The St. Charles Fire Department responded to the report of a brush fire located in the 4000 block of Lincoln Hwy at approximately 10:21am. The first unit arrived on scene four minutes later and reported an active fire on an undeveloped wildland area of approximately 80 acres west of the Illinois Youth Center. The alarm was upgraded by the incident commander for brush firefighting vehicles and water tenders. The fire was wind-driven and the adjacent IYC Youth Center was not in danger. At approximately 11:40am the fire was deemed under control by on-ground incident managers and aerial drone footage. There were no civilian or firefighter injuries at this incident.
The St. Charles Fire Department was assisted at this incident by the St. Charles Police Department, Kane County Sheriff’s Office, St. Charles Emergency Management Agency and fire departments from Geneva, Fox River, and Elburn. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. End.
