City of St. Charles Holiday Hours and Reminders

Below are a few reminders for the upcoming holidays.
City Offices Closed
City offices will be closed Dec. 24 & 25, 2025, and Jan. 1, 2026, for the Christmas and New Year’s holidays.
No Change to Refuse Collection Schedule
Garbage and recycling will be picked up on the normal collection schedule the weeks of Dec. 22 and Dec. 29, 2025.
Christmas Tree Pick Up
Christmas trees will be picked up – no sticker needed – the weeks of Jan. 5 & Jan. 12, 2026. Trees will be collected on both sides of the river on refuse collection day. Remove all decorations, including tinsel and do not place trees in disposal bags. After this two-week period, a sticker will be required for pick up.
Holiday Lights Recycling
From now until Jan. 16, 2026, St. Charles residents and businesses can drop off holiday lights (working or non-working) and extension cords to be recycled.
Accepted Items
• Traditional Holiday Lights • LED Holiday Lights • Italian Mini Holiday Lights • Rope Lights • Extension Cords
Not Accepted: • Pre-lit garland, wreaths, or trees • Lighted lawn decorations or ornaments

Drop off is available at locations during regular operating hours, unless listed otherwise. Check location website for operating hours:
