The St. Charles Public Works Department is hosting an Open House at the Public Works Facility, 1405 S. 7th Avenue, St. Charles, on Saturday, May 2, 2026, from 8 a.m. to noon. Residents of all ages are invited to come out and get a behind-the-scenes look at some of the essential services that keep the community running every day.
Learn about the work of the Public Works Department, including infrastructure maintenance, water and electric utilities, snow removal, and more. Staff will be on hand to answer questions and share insights into how these services support the safety, health and quality of life in the community.
There will be activities for the whole family:
• Facility Tours • Touch-a-Truck
• Electric Pole Climbing Demonstration
• Wastewater Laboratory & Treatment Plant Tour
• Children’s Activity
• Refreshments
“This open house is a great way for residents to see firsthand the work our Public Works team does every day,” said Peter Suhr, Director of Public Works. “It’s also an opportunity for residents to connect with staff, ask questions and better understand how we maintain the city. We also hope to inspire future generations to take an interest in public service careers.”
