Longtime resident David Petschke has been appointed Ward 3 Alderperson for the City of St. Charles, succeeding Robert Gehm, who retired from the City Council on May 1, 2026.

Following a review process that included 10 applicants and interviews with four finalists, Petschke was appointed by Mayor Clint Hull with the advice and consent of City Council. Petschke will serve the remainder of the term through April 2027, when the seat will be up for election.

A 12-year resident of St. Charles, Petschke serves as Chief Financial and Administrative Officer for the Forest Preserve District of Kane County, where he has worked for nearly 14 years. He also is Treasurer of the Kane Forest Preserve Foundation and previously worked as an audit supervisor and consultant for a government-focused CPA firm.

“David brings extensive government financial experience to his new role as Ward 3 Alderperson,” said Mayor Hull. “City Council and I were fortunate to have a highly qualified pool of applicants, and David distinguished himself through his financial expertise and dedication to public service. He will be a strong addition to City Council and a committed representative for Ward 3 residents.”

Petschke earned both a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a Master of Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting from Aurora University in Aurora, Illinois.
