Detached Garage Fire

St. Charles Fire Department Press Release
 The St. Charles Fire Department responded to a report of a garage fire located in the 300 block of fourth Ave. at approximately 7:07 p.m. on May 22, 2026. The first unit arrived on scene in approximately 3 minutes and reported a fully involved detached garage fire.

 

The fire was reported by the homeowner. The fire was quickly controlled by fire department personnel and contained to the detached garage with the houses on either side experiencing some radiant heat damage to the exterior. At approximately 7:30 p.m., the fire was deemed under control and did not extend beyond the garage.
 
There were no civilian or firefighter injuries at this incident. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
 
The St. Charles Fire Department was assisted at this incident by fire departments from Batavia, Geneva, Elburn, South Elgin, North Aurora, Fermilab, Sugar Grove, the St. Charles Police Department, St. Charles Emergency Management Agency, the Red Cross, St. Charles City Electric, Nicor Gas, and Chad's Towing.
