Susan Hanson has declined to take the office of City Clerk that she had won in the April 1, 2025 election after relocating outside of St. Charles. At the May 19, 2025, City Council Meeting, Mayor Clint Hull appointed former Clerk Nancy Garrison as Interim Clerk until a permanent appointment is made.

Hanson has not formally withdrawn her candidacy. Therefore, in accordance with all applicable statutes and ordinances, last night the St. Charles City Council passed two resolutions:

  1. To declare a vacancy in the Office of City Clerk
  2. To post an opening to fill a vacancy in the office of City Clerk
Interested Candidates Apply by June 9 To be considered for appointment, qualified candidates for the City Clerk position must reside within City of St. Charles and submit a letter of interest with a resume to Deputy Clerk Marzena Sheets at msheets@stcharlesil.gov. Mayor Hull will make the appointment with the advice and consent of the City Council. The appointed individual will serve a two-year term, with the position up for election in the 2027 local election.
