The City remains committed to ongoing dialogue with residents and community groups to listen to concerns, answer questions, promote understanding, and strengthen trust within our community.
The City Supports First Amendment Rights for All The City stands behind the right to peaceful protest and free expression. Peaceful demonstrations are an essential part of our democratic society; they offer individuals and groups an important voice in civic discourse. At the same time, we recognize we have a responsibility to protect the safety of protesters, residents, businesses, and law enforcement officers alike. Safety remains a guiding priority in all circumstances.
A Focus on Constructive Engagement The City will continue working with organizers and community members to help facilitate demonstrations in a safe and respectful manner. Participants are encouraged to remain civil, follow lawful instructions, and ensure that streets and emergency routes remain clear.
To support safety and coordination, organizers are asked to communicate with the St. Charles Police Department in advance of any planned event.
Together, we can ensure that every voice is heard, every person is respected, and everyone can exercise their rights in a safe, civil, and secure environment.
