Each year, the Polar Plunge—jumping into cold water in cold weather—raises awareness and donations for Special Olympics Illinois programming and support services. On March 8, 2026, at 10 a.m., members of the St. Charles Team will take the plunge at Ferson Creek Park, off of IL Rt. 31, east of Wildrose Springs Drive.

Last year, this the St. Charles Polar Plunge raised more than $26,000 to support Special Olympics Illinois athletes. Funds raised through Polar Plunge events help athletes participate in competitions and access critical medical care and support services.

All are invited to come out to support the team, have some fun, and purchase some swag. Proceeds benefit Special Olympics Illinois. For details, including how to donate, visit the St. Charles Police Fire and Friends' team Special Olympics Illinois fundraising page.

Parking Note: Only handicap parking is available at Ferson Creek Park. To request a parking permit, contact Sara Cass at scass@stcharlesil.gov. Participants, volunteers, and supporters should park at St. Charles North High School, 255 Red Gate Road.
