St. Charles Police Investigate Suspicious Device Found

On April 25, 2026, at approximately 10:37 p.m., the St. Charles Police Department received a report of a suspicious device located in a flower planter in the 200 block of W. Main Street. 

Officers immediately secured the scene. As a precaution, nearby residences and businesses were evacuated, and road closures were implemented. Main Street was closed from 3rd Street to Riverside Avenue, and 2nd Street was closed from Indiana Street to Cedar Street while authorities conducted their investigation. The area has been reopened. 

The Kane County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) responded to assist at the scene. 

At this time, there is no threat to the public. The FBI, in coordination with the Police Department, will continue the investigation.
