Bob Gehm has resigned his seat as Alderperson of Ward 3, effective May 1, 2026. Gehm had served on City Council since 2023, when he was first appointed, and then was elected in 2025. He also served on the Liquor Control Commission since 2013.
“Bob has a genuine commitment to give back to his community,” said Mayor Clint Hull. “That commitment led him to step forward to serve the City for the last 13 years,” said Mayor Clint Hull. “His leadership, kindness, and dedication have made St. Charles even better.”
Applications Accepted through May 25, 2026
The City of St. Charles is looking for candidates for the Ward 3 Alderperson seat. In accordance with state statute, the successful candidate will be appointed by Mayor Clint Hull, with the advice and consent of the City Council. The person appointed to the seat will serve until a candidate is elected during the April 2027 consolidated election.
Residents interested in consideration for appointment to the vacant seat must:
- Reside in Ward 3 for at least one year. Find your ward here.
- Be available for a half-hour interview on June 1, 2026, between 4-6:30 p.m.
- Be available to serve beginning June 15, 2026
- Submit a letter of interest and resume to Mayor Clint Hull by May 25, 2026, at 4 p.m.
In accordance with 65 ILCS 5/3.1-10-5, persons interested in elective municipal office must meet the following criteria:
(1) be a qualified elector of the municipality
(2) have resided in the municipality at least one year preceding the election or appointment
(3) not be in arrears in the payment of a tax or other indebtedness due to the municipality or been convicted in any court of any infamous crime, bribery, perjury, or other felony, and
(4) reside in the ward that the person seeks to represent at least one year preceding the election or appointment. In addition, the Government Ethics Act requires a statement of economic interest be filed with the Kane County Clerk’s Office.
