The St. Charles Fire Department will be conducting water main flushing at the following locations; 825 Randall Road, 835 Randall Road and 811 Randall Road Thursday, March 12, 2020.
Kane County offers the CodeRED® Emergency Telephone Notification System. The system allows County officials to telephone targeted areas or the entire County if an emergency requires immediate action such as a boil water order, missing child alert or evacuation notice. CodeRED® is capable of dialing 50,000 phone numbers per hour and delivers a recorded message.
Members of the St. Charles Police and Fire Departments along with their families & friends will “Be Bold & Get Cold” on March 1, as they go jump in a lake for the 2020 Polar Plunge. The event is at 1 p.m. at Loon Lake in Yorkville, and fundraising benefits the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Illinois.
Fire Chief Joseph Schelstreet has announced his retirement from the St. Charles Fire Department, effective Oct. 4, 2019. Schelstreet has served as Fire Chief since 2013. Assistant Fire Chief Scott Swanson has been named Acting Fire Chief of the department.
Schelstreet joined the St. Charles Fire Department full-time in 1988 as a firefighter. He was promoted to Lieutenant in 1992, Captain in 1997, Assistant Chief in 2003 and served as Acting Fire Chief in 2012 before stepping into the Chief role permanently in 2013.
