At 10:14 p.m. Sept. 6, 2019, the St. Charles Fire Department was dispatched to a report of smoke in the house, with an activated fire alarm, at 269 Tower Hill Drive. Firefighters were on the scene by 10:17 and found heavy smoke in the house. The alarm was upgraded at this time. A fire was located in the basement and firefighters were able to bring the fire under control in approximately 15 minutes. Firefighters remain on the scene as of the writing of this release completing the fire investigation. Firefighters extinguished the fire, checked for any fire extension and ventilated smoke.
The St. Charles Fire Department will be conducting water main flushing at Anthony Place, 1905 Althea Lane (Randall Road and IL 38) Wednesday August 14, 2019. The test will begin at approximately 8:30 A.M. and finish by 9:30 A.M. the same day.
The St. Charles Fire Department will be conducting water main flushing at Building 2 (Parking Garage) located at 50 S 1st Street. The test will begin at approximately 9:00 A.M. and finish by 10:00 A.M. the same day. Residents may experience rust in the water during or immediately after the testing procedure. The water is safe; however you may want to refrain from doing laundry until the water is clear.
City of St. Charles, Illinois – At 1:59 this morning, the St. Charles Fire Department was dispatched to a reported river rescue concerning a boat over the Fox River Dam and a possible victim in the water. Fire units were on the scene by 2:00 and found a boat over the dam, and trapped in the boil, however; there was no indication of a victim in the water. Firefighters utilized a Fire Department boat to access the boat in the dam and to search it for possible victims. None were found in the boat or in the water.
