6/30/19 River Rescue at the Fox River Dam

At 1:23 p.m. on June 30, 2019, the St. Charles Fire Department was dispatched to a reported river rescue just north of the Fox River Dam. Fire units were on the scene by 1:24 p.m. and found a disabled boat with three people inside approximately 1000 yards north of the dam. The anchor line for the boat was not holding and the strong winds from the approaching storm were blowing the boat towards the dam.

Fire Department River Rescue at the Railroad Trestle

At 4:41 p.m. 6/24/19, the St. Charles Fire Department was dispatched to a reported river rescue with a child and an adult trapped on a pylon underneath the railroad trestle bridge close to Salerno’s Restaurant: 320 N. Second Street. Multiple 911 calls were received by Tri Com and an exact location was given for the victims. Fire units were on the scene within one minute and found one adult and two children standing on a pier underneath the bridge next to a paddle boat. All three had personal floatation devices.

Arcada Theatre and Club Arcada Receive Temporary Occupancy

4/3/19 UPDATE

4/3/19 UPDATE: Progress continues at the Arcada and we are doing weekly follow-up inspections. The major work right now involves the electric service for the building. The City is currently doing work right behind the theater to make a service upgrade possible for the facility. We also continue to work on the exiting issues and Mr. Onesti has provided the exiting study as part of this effort. I don’t have a firm date for you on when all of the work will be completed.

School is back in session in St. Charles August 22, and student safety is at the forefront of back-to-school preparations. Coordinated student safety plans developed collaboratively by the St. Charles Police Department, St. Charles Fire Department and St. Charles Community Unit School District 303 officials are in place to keep students safe when they are in school.
