2025 Street Rehabilitation Project

The City is conducting street resurfacing projects at various locations throughout the community aimed at maintaining the current roadway infrastructure. See project details below and please check back for project updates as we progress through construction.

Update - 7/18/25

Work for the week of 7/21/25

Smith Rd Area (Smith Rd, Pheasant Trl, Pheasant Ct)

The Contractor is expected to complete permanent pavement marking this Saturday, July 19.

Brownstone Area (Indiana St, Brownstone Dr, Limestone Dr, Bluestone Dr, Cobblestone Dr)

This area has been substantially completed. The parking stalls in front of the coffee shop and salon need the final layer of surface placed. A timeline for this work is still to be determined.

Southeast St. Charles Industrial Areas (Wallace Ave, Sidwell Ct, Colomba Ct, Legacy Blvd, Equity Dr, Rukel Way, Enterprise Ct)

The first layer of asphalt is expected to be placed on Monday. The final layer of asphalt is expected to be placed on Thursday. Asphalt driveway repairs remain and are expected to be completed before the final layer of asphalt is placed.

Southeast St. Charles Residential Areas (Jobe Ave, Forrest Blvd, Forest Ave, Jeanette Ave, Emery Ct, Moore Ave, Moore Ct, Lucylle Ave, Lucylle Ct, Williams Ave, Midway Ave)

The first layer of asphalt is expected to be placed on Monday on Moore Ave, Moore Ct, Lucylle Ct, and the remainder of Forrest. Placement of the final layer of asphalt is expected to begin on Friday in this area.

Persimmon, Stonehedge, & Fox Chase Area (Marion Ave, Stonewood Dr, Persimmon Dr, Fairway Ct, Persimmon Ct, Fox Ct, Stonehedge Rd, Sutton Pl, Fox Chase Blvd, Tall Grass Ct, Secretariat Ct, Jeffrey Ct, Red Fox Ct, Triple Crown Ct, Surrey Woods Dr, Red Oak Ln, Pin Oak Ln)

Concrete removals and replacements are expected to continue next week.

Williams Ave

7/21 – Final grading is expected to be completed and proof rolling is expected to be performed; base repairs as needed.

7/23 – The first layer of asphalt is expected to be placed.

7/25 – The final layer of asphalt is expected to be placed.

Lucylle Ave

7/21 – Excavation and stone placement is expected to continue.

7/22 – Excavation, stone placement, and final grading are expected to be completed. Proof rolling is expected to be performed; base repairs as needed.

7/23 – The first layer of asphalt is expected to be placed.

7/25 – The final layer of asphalt is expected to be placed.

Jobe Ave

7/25 – The final layer of asphalt is expected to be placed.

North 3rd Ave & Johnor Ave

7/22 – Excavation and stone placement are expected to begin.

Milling on Legacy, Equity, Rukel, and Enterprise. Asphalt binder on Wallace, Sidwell, and Colomba. Surface on Wallace and Sidwell.

Southeast St. Charles Residential Areas (Midway Ave, Jobe Ave, Forest Blvd, Forrest Ave, Jeanette Ave, Emery Ct, Moore Ave, Moore Ct, Lucylle Ave, Lucylle Ct)

Asphalt binder on Midway early in the week. Milling will take place on Forrest, Jeanette, Moore, and the courts at the end of the week.

Williams Ave.

7/10 – crew started pavement milling to get a head start

7/14 – milling to +/- 6” deep – no driveway access will be available starting at this time. Emergency street access will still be available

7/15-7/18 – removals to a depth of 18”, placement of stone, driveway access will be restored with temp ramps when aggregate is complete.

Lucylle Ave.

7/15 – milling to +/- 6” deep. Temporary driveway ramps will be provided until full depth removal begins

7/15-7/17 – start of stone work dependent on progress on Williams Avenue. Check website for more details.

Jobe Ave.

7/16 – Milling to a depth of 6”, driveways will have temporary ramps

7/17 – Base reclamation will take place. Driveway access may be interrupted for 1-2 hours while contractor is performing work. Temp driveway ramps will be provided at the end of the day.

7/18 – Asphalt binder

Utility adjustments and structure replacements are not scheduled at this time. 

Update - 7/3/25

Smith Rd Area (Smith Rd, Pheasant Trl, Pheasant Ct)

Smith Road milling has been completed. Contractor will be milling Pheasant Trail and Court, finishing on Monday 7/7. Asphalt binder and surface will begin in this area late in the week.

Brownstone Area (Indiana St, Brownstone Dr, Limestone Dr, Bluestone Dr, Cobblestone Dr)

Milling, asphalt binder, structure adjustments, and asphalt surface to take place early week of 7/7.

Southeast St. Charles Industrial Areas (Wallace Ave, Sidwell Ct, Colomba Ct, Legacy Blvd, Equity Dr, Rukel Way, Enterprise Ct)

No work is expected in this area

The Contractor is expected to begin and complete pavement grinding in this area on Wednesday and Thursday next week (7/2, 7/3). Temporary striping will be applied to Smith Rd before the holiday weekend.

Brownstone Area (Indiana St, Brownstone Dr, Limestone Dr, Bluestone Dr, Cobblestone Dr)

No work is expected next week in this area.

This Saturday, 6/28, the Contractor is expected to be replacing structures on Marion Ave & Smith Rd.

All remaining utility structure adjustments along the road have been completed. The Contractor is expected to be back on Tuesday, weather permitting, to finish pouring all remaining curb.

No work is expected next week in this area.

This Saturday, 6/21, the Contractor is expected to finish replacing structures on Marion Ave and to replace a structure on Stonehedge Rd.

Next week, the Contractor is expected to be replacing fire hydrants on Persimmon Dr and a water valve on Sutton Pl. Late in the week, they are expected to continue replacing structures on Marion Ave and N 3rd Ave.

Utility structure replacements on Smith Rd have substantially been completed. One replacement remains in the vicinity of an unknown gas main. The City and the Contractor are coordinating with Nicor to get the gas main located and the structure replaced.

Concrete replacements are expected to begin early next week in the area.

This week, pre-construction videotaping was completed, traffic control signs started to be delivered, and saw-cutting for utility structure point repairs began.

Update 5/23/25

  • This week pre-construction videotaping continued.
  • Next week pre-construction videotaping is expected to be completed.
  • “Road Construction Ahead” signs and other traffic control items are expected to begin to be delivered and installed in various locations throughout town next week.
  • Concrete saw-cutting for various utility structure point repairs & replacements around town is expected to begin next week as well.
  • The Contractor is currently expecting to start on the various utility point repairs around town in the first week of June.
  • Concrete replacements and road work are currently expected to begin mid-June.

 

Update - 5/8/25

This week, pre-construction videotaping continued, project letters continued to be mailed out, and a pre-construction meeting was held with the Contractor.

Next week, pre-construction videotaping and project letter mailing is expected to be completed. At the pre-construction meeting, the Contractor indicated that they had begun placing orders for materials; however, due to long lead-time, they would be unable to start for another 2-3 weeks in town. Please check back weekly for any changes in the schedule.
