As part of the City of St. Charles’ 2026 Street Rehabilitation Project, fire hydrant, watermain and valve replacement work will take place at the intersection of S. 3rd Street and Indiana Street from Sept. 14 through Sept. 16. The work will require daytime and overnight road closures during this time.
The work includes replacing aging fire hydrants with inoperable valves, replacing aging water main valves, and separating and relocating water mains that run through the storm sewer system to meet Illinois Environmental Protection Agency regulations.
Motorists should anticipate traffic delays and are strongly encouraged to seek alternate routes. On-street parking along S. 3rd Street will not be available during the day while work is taking place.
