The City of St. Charles offers a challenging and supportive work environment that fosters excellence, accountability, learning and professional development.  This position is responsible for the receipt, storage, retrieval, and tracking of a variety of materials, tools, equipment, and vehicles. Monitors inventory levels in the procurement software to ensure appropriate stock levels are available and maintained for a $3,000,000+ inventory.  
Are you a personable, organized, and reliable full-time student seeking an opportunity to get interesting hands-on experience in a dynamic and progressive municipal human resources department? This internship opportunity will give the student a robust experience in all aspects of human resources, making them career-ready for a full-time position in the public or private sector.  This position will partner with the human resources staff in researching, planning, and coordinating a variety of programs including compensation, employee benefits, collective bargaining and labor relations, health insurance, recruitment and selection, employee wellness and safety, training, worker's compensation, and other related projects.   

We are looking for the intern to work year-round approximately 18 to 20 hours per week when school is in session and up to 40 hours a week when school is not in session.  Hours must be worked on site during normal business hours, which are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm.  Reliable attendance is important for this position.

The position is responsible for assisting with installation and maintenance of communication infrastructure (e.g. SCADA wiring, cellular modems, media converters and Wi-Fi devices), fiber optic cable splicing/terminating/troubleshooting, building security systems (including cameras), public works radio equipment, network cabling, and public emergency systems. This position will also install, test, maintain, and read electric metering devices throughout the City.
Do you enjoy working outdoors and with children? We are looking for several dependable individuals (21 and older) to safeguard the children of our community. The Crossing Guard program is a vital part of providing safe travel to and from school for many students.  Currently seeking two regularly scheduled and one substitute Crossing Guard.  Substitutes cover whenever regularly scheduled guards are unable to cover their shift.  Crossing Guards will also assist with traffic control for special events for the City. The Crossing Guard maintains control of children at crossing sites to ensure that children cross safely and at designated spots when school is in session.  Shifts are approximately 1 hour in the morning, and 1 hour in the afternoon.  The morning crossing is generally from 8:00 – 8:45 a.m. and afternoon crossing are 3:00 – 3:45 p.m.

This position applies superior customer service skills and professional building and code enforcement knowledge to manage permitting and inspections for the improvement of buildings and properties in the community to assure public health, welfare, and safety. 
This position is responsible for the processing of invoices, purchase orders, and contracts/bids for all City purchases, and for various clerical and accounting duties as assigned by the Accounts Payable Coordinator/Payroll Specialist.
