Are you an outgoing, friendly, reliable, and experienced administrative professional? Is public service something that interests you? If so, we have a wonderful opportunity for you! This position greets, welcomes, and directs visitors; notifies City personnel of visitors’ arrival; and answers the City’s main telephone line to provide information or direct calls accordingly. Duties include opening and closing the atrium lobby, and assisting with administrative functions for the City Administrator/Mayor’s office and other City departments as needed.

The City of St. Charles offers a challenging and supportive work environment that fosters excellence, accountability, learning and professional development. The duties of the Lead Certified Water Operator include leading and coordinating the work required to operate, test, maintain, repair, construct and replace components of the water supply, pumping, storage and distribution systems, including proper restoration of streets, alleys and right-of-ways.  The Lead Certified Operator is responsible for successful completion of work assignments through the oversight of crews, inspecting work, and coordination of daily work schedules of both City staff and contractors, as well as, ensuring that work and safety rules are followed including Public Works Department safety practices and OSHA, IDOL, and IEPA regulations. This position uses a wide variety of manual and powered equipment, including but not limited to, backhoe, end loader, bobcat, power saws, compressors, tampers, jackhammers, excavator, pumps, power tools, hydro stop, tapping machine, etc.  In addition, the Lead Certified Water Operator collects samples and performs tests for water quality analysis and operates, inspects, maintains and repairs the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system. This position will respond to emergency situations and support other city departments/divisions in the abatement of emergency situations.  This position may work scheduled overtime and be asked to become Acting Division Manager when the need arises.
