St. Charles Earns Top Honor from Illinois Municipal Electric Agency

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – On behalf of the City of St. Charles, City Administrator Mark Koenen and Electric Services Manager Tom Bruhl accepted the Illinois Municipal Electric Agency’s President & CEO’s Municipality of the Year award at the Agency’s annual meeting and awards banquet held in Springfield on October 17.

Trick or Treating Hours and Safety Reminders

It’s that time of year again! Ghosts and goblins will soon be knocking on your door asking for treats.  The St. Charles Police Department would like to recommend the following safety tips 

2014 Leaf Pick Up Schedule

The leaf pick up program has been modified this year. It will run similarly to the brush pick up program, with the collection areas divided on the east and west sides of the river. Leaves must be on the parkway by 6:30 a.m. on your area’s designated day of pick up, but it may take three to four days before the leaves are picked up in your specific area.

Have a Treat and Help a Good Cause at the City of St. Charles “CASAtober” Bake Sale Fri., Oct. 31

Activities throughout October Benefit CASA Kane County

City  employees  are  holding  a  bake  sale  and  raffle to  raise  funds  for  the  CASA (Court-Appointed  Special  Advocates)  Kane  County  child  advocacy  program.  Home-baked treats will be on sale in the reception area of the Municipal Building, 2 E. Main St., on Oct. 31 from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Raffle tickets also will be available for $3 each. Prizes include theatre tickets, gift baskets, and more.

Riverside Avenue between Illinois and Walnut Avenues to Close for Sanitary Sewer Maintenance

Closure to Start Nov. 3 and will be in Effect about Two Weeks

Riverside Avenue between Illinois and Walnut avenues will be closed for approximately two weeks beginning Monday, Nov. 3 as routine maintenance is performed on the sanitary sewer system on and near the Illinois bridge. Traffic on the Illinois Bridge also will be reduced to one lane in either direction.
