The City’s communication manager, Lisa Garhan, and I met with a group of outstanding Fox Valley residents who wanted to provide us with information and encourage us to invite our residents to participate in The Memory Café Fox Valley.
What is a Memory Café? It is a social gathering for individuals who have begun to have memory issues such as mild cognitive impairment, mild-to-moderate dementia, early-stage Alzheimer’s Disease or similar impairments. Spouses, family members and/or caregivers participate with them. Memory Café Fox Valley has been meeting monthly since early 2016 in a safe and comfortable environment in which those who participate can socialize and enjoy a variety of enjoyable activities.
Memory Care Fox Valley usually meets on the fourth Wednesday of each month, from 10-11:30 a.m. at the Batavia Public Library, 10 S. Batavia Avenue. The next meeting is March 27. Topic: An attorney is speaking on protecting one’s assets. To confirm time and place, call Barbara at 630-643-2263 or John at 630-879-0684. More at www.MemoryCafeFoxValley.com.
Lisa and I found this meeting to be enlightening and rewarding that this group wants the message to be loud and clear: Fox Valley residents (and beyond) are most welcome to participate and enjoy the programs and fellowship.
Spring is around the corner (a groundhog told me it’ll be an early spring); the blooming of flowers and the crack of baseball bats are near. Enjoy the end of Mother Nature’s winter blast and the start of raw beauty in the Fox Valley and particularly St. Charles.
See you around town.
