Structure Fire

1400 Block of Oak Street

The St. Charles Fire Department responded to the report of a structure fire in a home located in the 1400 block of Oak Street at approximately 01:25 am. The first unit arrived on scene in approximately four minutes and reported visible fire venting from the open main entry door to the home. One occupant was found outside in the front yard and was treated and transported to Delnor Hospital. Two other occupants in the home were able to exit without injury. First arriving fire companies extinguished the fire within 15 minutes of arrival. Firefighters remained on seen checking for fire extension, conducting salvage and overhaul operations, extinguishing hot spots, and conducting the fire investigation until approximately 04:30 a.m.

 

The damage to property and contents is estimated at $50,000.00.

  The condition of the patient transported was unavailable at the time of this press release.

The St. Charles Fire Department was assisted at this incident by the St. Charles Police Department, St. Charles EMA, and fire Departments from Geneva, Batavia, Elburn, South Elgin, North Aurora, and Fermilab. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
