From the St. Charles Fire Department: Remember Sparkler Safety

When celebrating Independence Day, it’s important to put safety first.

The City does not allow consumer use of fireworks. As an alternative, you may choose to celebrate with sparklers, but it’s still important to keep safety in mind.

Sparklers burn at more than 1,200 degrees Fahrenheit, and have the potential to cause serious injury if used improperly. Sparklers account for more than a quarter of firework-related injuries.

Make sure to always keep a close eye on children when using sparklers, tell them to hold sparklers far away from their bodies, and keep other people clear of burning sparklers.
