Answers to Common Questions about Your Utility Bill

This summer has been one of the hottest on record—not only in the U.S. but around the world. So you may have been running your air conditioner more than usual and watering flowers, lawns and landscaping more frequently. This additional usage will show up on your utility bill.

As a reminder, City of St. Charles utility bills include charges for electric, water, and sewer usage all combined into one bill. Bills reflect actual readings of the prior month’s usage. Estimates are done only when meters cannot be read. So even if the weather is cooler and mild when you get your bill, please remember the bill is for services used previously. Also the City does not use Smart Meters to gather utility consumption information.

We realize people like to compare their bills with their neighbors. But for the most accurate information, please call Utility Billing at 630 377 4426 and we will provide specific historical usage for your address. We also can discuss payment options if you need help paying your utility bill.
