Getting from Giving

It's the Season of Giving

There’s a lot of attention on Black Friday and Cyber Monday and all the gifts you can buy on those days. But on Nov. 27, consider joining the global #GivingTuesday effort ( or the local #ILGIVE ( and give some heartfelt gifts this holiday season. There are many opportunities right here in your community for you to donate your time, talent or treasure on Nov. 27 and beyond. Here are a few ideas:

Giving Tree at the Municipal Building

Help us Undecorate our Giving Tree at City Hall

Stop by city hall to help us undecorate our Giving Tree, coordinated by the City’s employee Project Wellness team. The tree will be in our reception area beginning November 16 and will be decorated with gift wishes of two local groups: seniors at ElderDay Center and children-in-need from School District 303.

The children’s gifts are being collected as part of a community-wide program involving 45 local businesses. Coordinated with D303 school counselors to identify children-in-need within the district, the program hopes to give gifts for 450 children this year. For more information, contact program organizer  Minor Mobley at

To participate, simply select one or more tags from the tree, purchase the item(s), and return the unwrapped gift(s) to the Giving Tree at City Hall by December 5. Items on the tags are at all price levels. The gifts will be wrapped and delivered in time for Christmas. Cash donations are welcome, too, and will be used to purchase items on tags not selected. Cash donations may be left with the City receptionist.

Visit City Hall this month and help us undecorate our tree to make the holidays brighter for some very special kids and seniors in our community. Contact the Human Resources office at 630.377.4446 with questions.
