Mature adults 65 and older are three times more likely to die in house fires than younger adults. Having a working smoke alarm cuts the chances of a serious consequence by fire in half. Do you or your loved one’s age 65 and older have working smoke alarms?

The St. Charles Fire Department is partnering with the Illinois Fire Safety Alliance to increase senior safety by providing smoke detectors in homes of older adults living within the City of St. Charles.

St. Charles, Ill. (September 28, 2022) – The St. Charles Fire Department will be conducting Hydrant Flow Testing at 2900 Dukane Drive on Wednesday October 5, 2022.  The test will begin at approximately 8:00 A.M. and finish by 9:00 A.M. the same day. 

St. Charles, Ill. (September 20, 2022) – The St. Charles Fire Department will be conducting water main flushing at 3000 W. Main Street on Wednesday, September 21, 2022.  The test will begin at approximately 9:00 AM and finish by 9:30 AM the same day. 

St. Charles, Ill. (September 19, 2022) - The St. Charles Fire Department will be conducting water main flushing at 3000 W. Main Street on Tuesday, September 20, 2022.  The test will begin at approximately 2:30 P.M. and finish by 3:30 P.M. thesame day. 

The St. Charles Fire Department is hosting an open house at Fire Station #1, 112 N. Riverside Avenue, on Saturday, October 15, 2022, from noon to 3 p.m. to commemorate Fire Prevention Week. The theme this year, “Fire won’t wait. Plan your escape!”, highlights the simple but important actions everyone can take to keep themselves and those around them safe from home fires.

All are invited to stop by the Open House, talk with the firefighters, and learn about fire safety. Several exhibitions will be held throughout the day including:

The St. Charles Fire Department is holding its annual 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony at 7:30 a.m.,  Sept. 11, 2022, outside at the Fire Department Memorial Monument, 2 E. Main St.

The ceremony includes posting the Fire Department Memorial Flag, placing the memorial wreath, and observing a moment of silence. 

The St. Charles Fire Department will be conducting Hydrant Flow Testing at 248 N. Randall Rd. on Thursday, September 8, 2022.  The test will begin at approximately 8:00 A.M. and finish by 9:00 A.M. the same day. 

The St. Charles Fire Department will be conducting Hydrant Flow Testing at 2060 Lincoln Highway on Thursday, September 1, 2022.  The test will begin at approximately 10:30 A.M. and finish by 11:30 A.M. the same day. 

The St. Charles Fire Department will be conducting Hydrant Flow Testing at 1972 Mc Thurston Ct. on Wednesday, August 24, 2022.  The test will begin at approximately 8:00 A.M. and finish by 9:00 A.M. the same day.
