DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert B. Berlin and St. Charles Chief of Police James Keegan announced today that two male juveniles have been charged with starting a three-alarm fire at the former Pheasant Run resort on North Avenue. The St. Charles Fire Department will be conducting Hydrant Flow Testing at 3310 W. Main St. on Thursday, July 28, 2022. The test will begin at approximately 9:00 A.M. and finish by 10:00 A.M. the same day.
The St. Charles Fire Department responded to a residence on Whittington Course at approximately 3 am for a report of a smoke in a building. The first St. Charles fire engine arrived on the scene in under 4 minutes and found smoke and active fire inside the house. The incident was upgraded to a General Alarm. The firefighters worked to bring the fire under control in approximately 15 minutes. The fire was contained to the contents involved upon arrival with fire damage to the contents estimated at $10,000. Two occupants were home at the time of the fire.
The St. Charles Fire Department will be conducting water main flushing at 2651 Woodward Drive on Thursday, July 14, 2022. The test will begin at approximately 8:00 A.M. and finish by 11:00 A.M. the same day.

The St. Chares Fire Department hosted a multi-department training in conjunction with the Illinois Fire Service Institute (IFSI) Cornerstone Training Program June 13-15, 2022. St. Charles firefighters were joined by members of the Geneva, Batavia and Elburn fire departments for the training, which took place at the former PNC Bank building, 2600 E. Main Street in St. Charles.
The fire at the former Pheasant Run Resort, 4051 E. Main St./IL Rt. 64 in St. Charles was extinguished Sunday, 5/22/22. One fire unit from the St. Charles Fire Department remains on the scene to control a few remaining hot spots. The main lobby, Bourbon Street, and A, B, E wings of hotel rooms have been destroyed.
A full investigation of the fire is underway. Our police & fire departments are working the with Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, and Office of the State Fire Marshall throughout the investigation, which is expected to last several weeks.
