Week of July 23, 2012

FINAL PROJECT UPDATE - The South 4th Street Reconstruction project has been completed except for final landscape restoration, which will be completed as weather allows.  Due to the excessive heat, the restoration work has been delayed.

Your assistance in watering replaced sod is greatly appreciated.

Week of July 9, 2012

Two crews continue to work on the installation of the new water main from 7th Avenue towards Hunt Club Drive. Work has progressed at a good pace and the contractor has begun filling and testing these new sections of water main. Once completed and accepted by the City, the contractor will begin installing new water services to the new water main. During this relocation activity, residents and businesses may experience water service delays. Notifications letters indicating dates and times will be delivered.

Week of July 9, 2012

All of the scheduled work and street repair work has been completed and South 4th Street is now open to traffic. Disturbed areas have been prepared for sod that will be placed as weather permits.

All residents that are within the affected construction limits have received notification letters describing the projects limits, and anticipated work activities. The city has delivered sod maintenance letters asking residents to assist with watering of new sod whenever possible.

July 2, 2012

Work continues at the northeast corner of the new bridge near the intersection of East Main Street and Powis Road. Numerous utility conflicts have been encountered and relocation work for these items will be required. To read the full update, download the attached document.

Week of June 25, 2012

Meade Electric will continue to work on the installation of the temporary traffic signals throughout the project. Meade will also be working on the adjustment of an existing electrical vault on Smith Road just north of East Main Street. Once this work is completed the contractor will complete the remaining curb work on the east side of Smith Road and begin working on the west side.  To read the full update, download the attached document.

Week of June 25, 2012

Most of the scheduled work has been completed and South 4th Street is currently open to traffic. Repairs of some sections of concrete pavement are anticipated to take place this week.

The contractor has been informed that emergency vehicles must have access to residential properties at all times.

All residents that are within the affected construction limits have received notification letters describing the projects limits, and anticipated work activities.

Week of June 18, 2012

Most of the scheduled work has been complete and South 4th Street is anticipated to be open for traffic on June 15.

Week of June 18, 2012

The Contractor has begun lane closures near the intersection of East Main Street and 7th Avenue and will be expanding these lane reductions easterly towards Hunt Club Drive. Work is expected to be at this location for the next few weeks, focusing on watermain installation, sanitary service repairs, and storm sewer work. In addition, private utility companies such as NICOR Gas, AT&T and ComEd will be working on relocating their infrastructure.
